The Development of ClickCare
Back
ClickCare was born in 1995 when a pediatrician needed to advise and assist some nurse practitioners in an off site school clinic. Also at this time:
- Email utilization was spreading,
- Secure lines from the schools existed,
- Digital cameras, though expensive, had just become commercially available.
An archive of medical cases was assembled manually to show others the idea, get grants from some wonderful foundations, and begin to get healthcare professionals excited. After trying many different telemedicine systems, it became clear that any useful system would have to be
- inexpensive,
- web accessible, and
- extremely user friendly.
In 2003, when the rapid development platform Servoy was found, ClickCare blossomed, and the rest is history. Improving access, collaboration and education is a reality, not only in pediatrics, but within diverse specialties, distant countries, and other fields -- all being enhanced by a "collaboration service with media transfer."
